Intracellular fluid (ICF) is defined as the fluid contained within the cells of the body. Blood vessels contain plasma, which is part of extracellular fluid, not intracellular fluid. Extracellular compartments refer to all fluid outside the cells, such as interstitial fluid and plasma, thus excluding ICF which is solely found within the cells.
